About
Hi, my name is Shani. I’m a happily married former teacher turned full time mother and homemaker. When I’m not busy acting as the family cruise director and household manager, I’m blogging about the things I love! I’m a passionate about all things home related, particularly design, crafting, cooking, and building things.
People ask me all the time whether I have considered a career change or if I want to go back to teaching. The short answer is no. Being a mom is a full-time job. Throw in the homemaker duties and now I have two full-time jobs. But the thing is, I never really think of motherhood or homemaking as work. It’s just part of who I am.
The homemaking part of my job is what this blog is really about. I’m always looking for inspiration and dreaming up ways to dress my nest for less! I encourage you to join me as I make my house into a home.
Some of the things I blog about…
About My House
Our house is a semi-custom build. Before you ask, the answer is no, we did not commission the build for ourselves. We purchased the home from the builder near completion so all the finishes were picked out by him or his designer. We live in the Metro Vancouver area in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
7 Random Things About Me That You Really Don’t Need to Know
- I was a mompreneur for a short while. It was a fun business. I have no regrets about starting the business or leaving it behind.
- I’m very shy and so is my husband!
- My oldest daughter had a liver transplant when she was 11 months old.
- My second daughter is all hair and nothing else. I knew from the ultrasound pics that the baby would be born with a full head of hair.
- I secretly wish that more people would name their houses like Pemberley, Green Gables, Barton Cottage or Wuthering Heights. I haven’t come up with a good one for mine but I’ll let you know when I do.
- I’m a total real estate junkie. I can’t get enough of checking out MLS and home tours
- I can’t believe I’m telling you this but I’m a closet tech geek.

Wowwwwww! Amazing work! I can’t believe you made this furniture! You have all the tools? Unbelievable. And being a Mom isn’t easy stuff. You gotta be able to multi-task AND have the fine art of being sensitive to your kids’ needs. Nice work on being Super Mom, Shani.
Thanks!!!! I wish I had all the tools! The only power tool I own right now is a drill/driver. I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced saw for a couple of weeks. Until then, my storage project is sadly on hold.
I love your site! I really like home decorating and I love the design of your blog
