When I think of crocheted rugs, I image a big and colourful “grannie” creation that clashes with everything one owns. So I was rather surprised that I felt somewhat attracted to a handmade rug from Viva Terra featured in Green Your Decor. I liked it enough to wonder what the rug would look like on the naked hardwood floors of my family room.
I love the muted neutral hues and the intricate details of each crocheted flower. BUT, as much as I like this rug I really question how functional it really is.
Yes, it looks soft and inviting but how do you keep it clean? I doubt it would live through the abuse of my children and my vacuum obsessed self. Imagine how much dust and dirt would collect in this rug. This is definitely one of those beautiful pieces destined to sit in a living room that is never used.
It is a gorgeous rug…another project in the works for me?

so, did you do it? or is that actually a picture of it in your living room? i’m dying to know if it is a dirt magnet or if it can withstand little ones (you’ve got girls, i ‘ve got boys!).
I wish! The photo is from the Viva Terra website. It really is a cool rug but it would be destroyed instantly by my girls. Contrary to what some people think, girls are just a messy and energetic as little boys! Are you thinking of getting this rug?
has anyone found the instructions for this rug - it is DARLING!
No, but now you’re putting an idea in my head….
I totally wanna know how to make this!!!!!!!

LOVE..love…LOVE this rug! Just started learning how to crochet and this may be inspiration to keep with it. Definitely interested in a pattern if anybody figures it out.
