Sugar & spice and everything nice, that’s what this girly project is made of…
Yesterday morning I discovered a really cool crafting blog called Ucreate. The latest post (at the time) was by guest, Heather B who shared a great tutorial on how to make a crochet headband with a sliding ornamental flower. Being a mother of two sweet little girls, I had to get my crochet box out right away and start the project! The headband is super easy to make. While basic crochet skills are required, Heather’s tutorial is simple and easy to follow-even for beginners.
A little warning though…I think there was some confusion over how to get around the corners on row 2. I did notice an error in the tutorial but I have enough experience to just wing it. Be sure to read the comments after Heather’s post because I believe she mentions the error and provides corrections to the instructions there. No biggie. As I mentioned already, the headband is very easy to make. In fact, it’s a tiny bit addictive, just like the Amigurumi Cupcakes. I feel like I can’t just stop at one. I definitely have to make another band for daughter #2.
I had plenty of yarn leftover from my crochet cupcake frenzy a few weeks ago. You can’t really go wrong with pink when it comes to little girls. The headband was a perfect fit for Madeline.

AAAWWWEEE! It turned out great! Super cute on your little sweetheart.
The yarn I use is caron country. It seems to work out really well and is a little thinner than some of the other worsted weight yarns out there. I love yours though, and I agree. . . they are a bit addictive!
Thanks for the tip about the yarn! I find impeccable thread a bit heavy for the flower portion of the headband but it’s a good weight for other crochet projects. Happy crocheting to you!
