But don’t bother trying to explain this to your parents and in-laws
I wasn’t really looking for new dinnerware when luck be it, I came across a 16 piece boxed Denby set at Costco of all places. It was love at first sight which came as a surprise because I really never liked Denby and it was a pattern, not the sleek, all white classic look that I’m more inclined to fall for.
These are my everyday dishes. I like the weight and feel of this set. Guests are always complimenting and asking about our dishes. This set is available at Sears and The Bay but at a premium price. Let’s just say, I would never pay that kind of money for everyday dishes.
Speaking of which, it doesn’t have to be expensive to be special! We use pieces from this Corelle set on a daily basis. After all, I do have two young girls and Corelle is pretty much unbreakable.
If you’re are on a super tight budget you cannot go wrong with this 18 piece set by Ikea:
Practical, doesn’t have to be ugly and everyday shouldn’t be boring. In my book, it is more than okay to use your so-called “good” dishes everyday. If you’re going to make the effort and cook a lovely meal, your plastic child-proof Dora the Explorer plates are just not going to cut it.
P.S. When I say “good” dishes, I mean anything considered casual dining ware. I do have a gorgeous set of fine china which sits and collects dust year round.
